My company unfortunately is hit by the historical downfall of the world’s economy.  I am the head of the IT Department.  In a certain company, it is a known fact that IT Department has the most expenses when it comes to purchase orders, maintenance cost and equipment upgrades.  Take for example the information regarding the contract vendors, revenue cost and all pertinent information is stored in the IT Department.  To maintain the IT Department yet have a very low budget is a very challenging job.

In our monthly board meeting, my department was also asked to have a contribution or a suggestion on how to lower down the cost yet maintain reliability, efficiency and productivity.  It was such a good thing that I was able to do research the other night over the net and found out that used IBM equipment can be resold at a very reasonable price.

 A certain company like ours can also have our used IBM servers be resold even though they are refurbished too.  The liquidation and assessment of the said IT components are done by this certain supplier/dealer.  Since our company chooses to swim in this fast sinking economy, I suggested that we resell the used IBM equipment and devices and use the raised funds in maintaining the IT functionality.  In doing so, forcing people to submit a resignation or just letting them have an indefinite leave was definitely avoided.  I was able to help not just the company but my colleagues from their jobs as well.
